My wife is a professional-figure competitor. Our second date was meal prepping for the week. It took eight hours. I wanted to shoot myself in the face.

At the time, I was a competitive bodybuilder and no stranger to the dreaded weekend ritual of buying lots of food, cooking lots of food, and storing all that food in a few dozen Tupperware containers.

The devil was in the details, so we weighed everything, logged every Calorie, never missed a feeding, and ate far too much chicken.

There was one critical difference between my wife’s meal-prepping method and mine: Simplicity.

I cooked several pounds of fish on the grill and steamed a garden full of broccoli. That’s it. It took less than an hour.
