What If You Just Tried It?

There’s probably some potentially beneficial habit you’ve been rationalizing into obscurity.

Maybe it’s cold plunging.

Or weighing and measuring your food.

Perhaps it’s getting up long before the sun, going to bed before it sets, or skipping dessert for a week. Or a day.

Whatever it is, there’s probably something, some new experiment, some alluring strategy, some potentially beneficial habit you’ve been rationalizing into obscurity.

And maybe you’re right. Maybe intermittent fasting isn’t for you. But maybe you won’t get cold because you’re scared. So you make fun, poke holes, and pick at the things that seem to improve the lives of others.

Or worse yet, you laugh it off and admit defeat. Then, those who supposedly care the most allow your weakness to continue. Even help you continue your paralyzing justifications.

Because they’re weak too. Most are. I know I am. Tremodunsously, incalculably weak.

But I’m trying. Because I’m not exceptional, talented, or even valuable. So I try even harder to do things strong people do. And that starts with stopping the excuses, quitting the justifications, and asking myself, ‘what if I just tried it?’

What if I stopped shooting holes? What if I owned up to fear? What If I did the thing I’ve been avoiding?

Who might I become?
