What If The Workout Was Just About The Workout?

Forget about burning off that brownie. Imagine trying to nail your first pull-up.

It doesn’t have to be about the calories.

That’s liberating.

Your workout doesn’t burn that many calories anyway. Say, maybe 300. That’s less than three tablespoons of olive oil. Less than four eggs. That’s six Oreos.

And while that sounds disheartening at first, it’s full of opportunities.

When the workout is no longer about burning calories, you can just have fun.

Suddenly each and every session is like the playground at recess. A chance to improve. To enjoy. To play.

Workouts are about challenges, developing new skills, and getting strong. They’re de-stressors, a time to turn down the world’s noise, get lost in the effort, and connect with your body.

Forget about burning off that brownie. Imagine trying to nail your first pull-up, run your first mile, or simply enjoy working the body for all it’s worth.

When that happens, when the workout is just about the workout, we stop punishing ourselves and forget about payback. And coincidentally, the dinner table becomes more about supporting effort than deprivation.

Think about it.
