Two Things To Do Before 2022 That Will Set You Up For Success

This is when we’re most vulnerable to self-sabotage.

We know what maximum commitment feels like, and we love it.

That’s not the problem.

The problem is failing to account for times when our intensity diminishes. Times, like the holidays, when the world seems to do everything it can to steal our focus, intent, and progress.

This is when we’re most vulnerable to self-sabotage. When we compare today’s commitment to yesterday’s and become frustrated that the two don’t match.

Instead of using what time we have to give, we trick ourselves into believing that there’s no use in trying if it can’t be our best.

This isn’t true, of course. And in fact, it’s just another excuse tainted with a bit of history and a pinch of rationality.

But we know better, even if we won’t admit it. We know that while the holidays might make it hard to be our most committed, it’s still better to do what we can than stop trying altogether.

So take it small and get on the board with a couple free throws. 1) Stop scrolling social media. Then, 2) plan your day and be specific — what’s on your schedule at 7am, 12:30 pm, 7:15 pm, and everything in between?

They’ll be plenty of time to jump bigger hurdles come 2022. For now, focus on protecting the time you do have and spending it wisely.
