Two of my seven dogs struggle to walk. I carry one down the three stairs to the backyard almost every night.

The other, I hand feed on bad days because his feet slip on hardwood.

Otherwise, they’re fine. Old, mostly blind, and going deaf, but happy, hungry, and playful — sometimes.

None would be possible if I couldn’t squat, carry, and lift. Said differently, if I wasn’t healthy, they’d be dead.

I won’t sit here and preach or say they’re my reason for training. That’s too simple. But it does mean a lot to me to be able to do everything they need and more. And sometimes, it helps to get super granular when I don’t feel like training, have too many responsibilities, or everything else seems more important.
