Life is doing the little things day in and day out that make the big things possible.

We live for the game-winning touchdown, the life-changing promotion, the epic vacation.

These are the times we look forward to most. The adventures we celebrate. The things we live for.

Unfortunately, that’s not life. Not most of it anyway.

Life is making coffee, making beds, and making dinner. Life is taking out the trash, doing the dishes, and walking the dogs. Life is doing the little things day in and day out that make the big things possible.

“While washing the dishes, one should only be washing the dishes,” famous author, activist, and Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh says. “Which means that while washing the dishes, one should be completely aware of the fact that one is washing the dishes.”

Devastatingly, Hanh recently passed, but his spirit lives on.
