Are you proud of losing your temper?

I’m not asking if it feels good to be mad. Of course, it does. I’m asking, are you proud after all is said and done? After you’ve had your say, got your revenge, and exhibited your genius?

If you’re like me, the answer is 100 percent no. Not even once.

That’s why I try and stop for a split second before I do anything I could possibly regret and ask myself, “Will _______ make me proud?”

Will eating this brownie make me proud?

Will skipping this workout make me proud?

Will yelling at the idiot who can’t stop texting long enough to drive across town make me proud?

Will being right at someone else’s expense make me proud?
