How To Overcome Resistance

Because I don’t have willpower, because temptation never ends, and because motivation is finicky at best.

Coffee first.

But before I do that, I boil the water the same way I do every day. I grind the beans, clean the counter, and take supplements.

Next is cardio, meditate, read, write, and the list goes on.

There’s organizing the cupboards and the fridge precisely, making the bed, playing with the dogs, cleaning the dishes, training, cooking, and much more.

And none of it is because I’m special. In fact, it’s because I’m not.

At any given moment, I’m one bad decision away from being someone I don’t want to be. From letting Resistance win.

“The more important a call to action is to our soul’s evolution, the more Resistance we will feel about answering it. But to yield to Resistance deforms our spirit. It stunts us and makes us less than we are and we’re born to be.” — Steven Pressfield
