Here’s What Happened When I Quit Energy Drinks
I thought for sure I’d crash. That I’d lose my ability to concentrate. I was wrong.
I started drinking Bang sometime before the summer of 2021. By September, I was up to four cans a day.
It was the taste that kept me coming back all those months. Not the caffeine or the convenience, just the taste.
If that aluminum can says “Birthday Cake,” then you can count on that thing tasting exactly like delicious, caky bliss. A truly welcomed, and more importantly, calorie-free, detour from my otherwise bland diet.
But as is often the case when causal concessions begin to take root, something didn’t feel right. A question emerged.
“Do I need Bang to make it through the day?”
I hated that the answer might be yes. That I had begun to rely on something I wouldn’t recommend for others. Moreover, I know that one concession always leads to another. And another. And that if I didn’t interrupt this “harmless” energy drink consumption now, there’s no telling where it might lead.
That’s why, precisely 60 days ago, I drank my last energy drink. And here’s what happened since.
