Fitness Is More
Fitness is more than sweat.
Sweat is a side effect. Sweat is something we do just sitting in the sun, and we’re no fitter for it. A measure of temperature, not effort.
Fitness is more than running.
Running is a component of fitness, a reliable one, but only one of many. A small part of the meal that when used too much, like salt, ruins everything.
Fitness is more than lifting.
Renowned strength coach, Mark Rippetoe, said that “strong people are harder to kill.” And he’s right. But strength isn’t everything, and if you get out of breath just walking up the stairs, or can’t touch your toes, strength is worthless.
Fitness is more.
More today than yesterday, and it will be more tomorrow than today. And if fitness is truly our goal, we must embrace the things that makeup fitness. All of them.
