Awareness Is The Antidote: Super Couch: And Kierkegaard On Love
When it “works,” when you notice you’re noticing again, the world disappears.
Noticing hurts.
Or call it awareness. Same thing.
Think about it. You’re in the midst of a workout, lost in action. Suddenly, you become aware of the work. That’s when the pain comes.
Excuses come next and often some form of reduction: fewer sets, less effort, less work.
Now, replace “workout” with just about anything else.
Career, for instance. You’re plugging along, selling hours of your life for what amounts to trinkets on Amazon. Suddenly, the awareness that you sell time for toys crashes like a tsunami.
To be clear, many jobs are only meaningless if we believe they are. It’s like money having value simply because we say it does.
