3 Reasons I Use Fat Calipers To Measure Progress
Sometimes it’s low-tech for the win
For some, measuring progress is as simple as checking a box.
For others, it’s a 5k every six weeks, a deadlift PR, or a scale that shows all your hard work in the kitchen, one pound at a time.
And that’s not even scratching the surface, especially if you’re creative.
One progress measuring tool I’ve used for decades is fat calipers — those little plastic pinchers you hook to a fold of skin like a fake piercing.

I don’t even plug the results into an algorithm — that’s just an extra step. I simply take the raw numbers and adjust my habits accordingly.
If my weight drops but the calipers are trending up, I need more calories. Or less activity. Or a combination.
